The invisible border between Northern Ireland and the Republic is the one place in Europe where the United Kingdom and the European Union physically meet. With the government in London poised to start the process of leaving the EU, the prospect of the border becoming a physical reality once again is a worry for many. Our reporters went to meet with local residents.
A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett, Ellen Gainsford and Laura Burloux.

  4. Reality of the border situation will depend on the security situation. FWIW this John Paul Feeley guy is talking pure and utter nonsense – EU has bigger border problems than Northern Ireland to the Republic. Irish citizens in the UK have rights afforded to them that aren't afforded to other EU citizens (for reasons passing understanding) and that is extremely unlikely to change. FWIW the British Army isn't big enough to deal with that border any more – if it's anything it'll be drones (which the yanks would love), times have changed.

  10. What nobody seems to have noticed is that the Irish Republic will have no border with the EU.
Everything that is transported by road and ferry to and from mainland Europe goes through U.K. territory
