Of course the lyrics of this song are terrible — it’s an anthem for the masses. Let’s not forget how terrible the lyrics to ‘We Are the Champions’ are, yet we all love it.
And even as an anthem, it uses bizarre variations of Egyptian scales and modulates keys half way through the solo. You don’t find that in many pop songs, do you?

Not even close. That would go to Neutron Star Collision which despite having a pretty badass name (especially if you’ve taken an Astronomy course). This song isn’t that bad. Took a bit to grow on me, but I really dig it now so give it time.
